Why Natural Wine?

  • Thanks to low-intervention growing and processing techniques, these wines beautifully express the landscapes in which they’re grown—so each sip conveys the taste, aroma, and spirit of some of the best places on earth
  • Grapes are grown with regenerative practices that restore rather than deplete local ecosystems
    • No herbicides or pesticides: On some farms, sheep graze down the weeds; on others, waterfowl handle pest control and provide fertilizer
    • Native plants grow between rows to prevent erosion, draw down carbon and improve soil health
  • Fermentation, aging and bottling:
    • No filtration
    • Minimal or no added sulfites
    • No animal-based clarifying agents; our wine is vegan
    • Naturally occurring, indigenous yeasts—rather than lab-grown varieties—drive fermentation
  • Flavors are wild, intense, unconventional

About the Producer

The Vineyard

  • Château de Béru is nestled among France’s renowned Chablis Grand Cru foothills
  • Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2010
  • 40 acres of coveted, nutrient-rich kimmeridgian soils, formed when a tropical ocean covered the region during the Jurassic period
  • Valerian, nettle, chamomile, and silica preparations are used instead of synthetic fertilizers
  • Any necessary plowing is done by horse
  • Only indigenous yeasts contribute to fermentation


The Winemaker

  • Athénaïs de Béru cherishes this land, passed down from generation to generation of her family since the 17th century
  • She and her mother, Laurence, rely on many of the practices used by their ancestors to grow their organic wines
  • All wines are aged deep underground in a 13th-century cellar where temperature and humidity remain naturally stable
